“Different is Ok” is a colorful picture book that addresses the increasing need to acknowledge and accept diversity among us in a way that even the youngest of children can understand. While the focus is primarily on the neurodiversity of people on the Autism Spectrum, the bright images depict many kinds of differences with the hope of encouraging discussion and acceptance without dealing with the intricacies of the Spectrum or any other labels.

Pauline Malkoun is a writer masquerading as a secondary school English teacher Monday to Friday. She grew up in Melbourne, Australia with her parents, two brothers, sister and numerous pets. As a child and teenager, a book was never far from Pauline’s hands – sneakily reading chapters of what she had on the go in between the other things she was supposed to be doing.
