​Miguel was very happy being a duck but as hard as he tried to fit in with the other ducks, Miguel needed something more. Miguel wanted to go to Eagle School!

​Miguel has a hard time trying to find out who he is meant to be.
​He learns that even though following his dream is hard, once achieved, there is a pride and joy that no one can take away. His is a story of daring to be different. Miguel suffers the trials and fears that go along with chasing your dreams. But beyond the challenges and heartbreak, he also learns some fundamental life lessons and experiences the pride and joy of coming into his own.

​Isai Gutierrez' most proud accomplishment is his family. He was born and raised in Houston, Texas, is a husband and the father of four sons.  Professionally, he has spent the majority of his career as an educator in both the public and private sectors.  However, Isai's true passion has always been art and creative thinking!
Miguel Goes to Eagle School is Isai's first children's book. His writing exemplifies love of family and teaching life lessons. 

"As an educator, I have seen students struggle with some pretty complex issues. Racism, bullying, fear, intolerance, prejudice, racial and social injustice, belonging, resilience, determination, persistence, kindness and so many other issues overwhelm young people."

"I wanted to write a story that takes non-traditional characters to express complex themes in a way that is relatable to young people.  I believe what I have created is a timeless story to be enjoyed by people of all ages."
